The 411

Blue Blood Brewing Co. was founded in December 2011 by three buddies, from the Lincoln Police Department, that had a love for craft beer and the Lincoln community. The President and Co-Founder, Brian Podwinski, was injured in a training accident leading him to a passion that sparked a light in the Lincoln community. From the time of his retirement to this day, Podwinski has had the support of his team and a team of investors that have poured their hearts and souls into the brewery. It is this passion that fuels their craft.

In May of 2016, Blue Blood Brewing Co.  moved to its new 12,000 sq.ft. brewery and taproom which sits above Robber’s Cave, a 5,000 sq.ft. maze of sandstone cave tunnels, the majority of which was created as lagering caverns in 1869 by Lincoln’s first brewery, Pioneer Brewing Co. The brewery also hosts a full menu brewpub ajoining the solid wood and dark metal taproom, that over looks its state-of-the-art brewing facility.

Ralph Allen Sales Coordinator / Monkey Handler Favorite Blue Blood Beer: Outlaw Series Saison w/Brett and the Outlaw Series Red Wine Barrel Aged Farmhouse Ale Ralph the self proclaimed “Monkey Handler”, is sure to tell you all about the beer you’re sippin’ on.  He is the type of guy to answer the usual 2 word answer of “what is your favorite beer style?” with a whole paragraph. Ralph is a mood drinker who enjoys all of the styles at different times depending on his mood, the company (or solitary lack thereof), and the environment. Ralph would like everyone to know that if he could add anything to his profile it would be hippie hair, which would go great with his beard. What a guy!

Nick Shiffermiller Packaging Technician / Monkey Favorite Blue Blood Beer: Outlaw Series Saison w/Brett Our highly decorated Crossfit champion and yoga guru, Nick, is a cheese maker extraordinaire with a passion for that 5:00 pm.  His favorite beer style is the Imperial Stout and just so happens to be the Imperial of the Sunnyvale Hockey team.  Nick is the base to the brewing pyramid and without Nick there would be no one to clean the brewery. #CHEESE

Casey Dixon Executive Chef/Gate Keeper of the Food Favorite Blue Blood Beer: Okhrana Imperial Stout Casey’s favorite part of Blue Blood is the camaraderie and free beer but, of course, chefs generally have some questionable hobbies. Our chef just happens to enjoy hunting whales in Nebraska, teaching moms to be jump roping master, gardening with those moms, and unwinding from a long day singing in the shower with a glass of average whiskey.
